MandatesStudy of the impact of International GenevaMandate of the Fondation pour Genève 2011 – 2012Geneva has enjoyed several decades of unchallenged attractiveness not only for international organisations, governmental and non-governmental, but also for companies, especially multinational corporations. The city and its region constitute a unique hub in Europe providing several "centres of excellence" in key areas (health, human rights and humanitarian affairs, trade, environment etc). This phenomenon has been more pronounced in recent years. It has resulted in a significant immigration of businesses and people - foreign and Swiss. If this influx has helped sustain the economic growth of the Canton of Geneva and the Lake Geneva region, it could cause in the medium term, deterioration in the quality of life and attractiveness of the region. Faced with this situation, four academic institutions - the University of Geneva, the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, EPFL and the University of Lausanne have been mandated by the Fondation pour Genève to conduct a study on attractiveness factors of International Geneva and the potential factors of dysfunction.
